Site of Special Scientific Interest

There are five Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) on Pitgaveny. At almost 100 hectares, the largest is Loch Spynie, designated for its wildfowl and plant life. The others are designated as exposures of the Lossiemouth Sandstone Formation, containing fossils.
